Animahenasyon 2011: 5th Philippine Animation Festival at Eastwood City from November 22 - 25, 2011

Animahenasyon 2011: 5th Philippine Animation Festival
Eastwood City
November 22 (Tuesday) - 25 (Friday), 2011

Animahenasyon is an annual Filipino animation festival that features the different animation works of both aspiring and professional animators in the country through a competition. Also part of the festival is the animation master classes / seminars / workshops, and exhibits of the works of seasoned animators and lifetime achievement awardees. Animahenasyon serves as a venue for Filipino animators to present their world-class ideas, to open doors of opportunities, and a chance for them to meet and be inspired by the finest names in the industry.

Animahenasyon is the Filipino equivalent of animagination, as a result of combining the words “animation” and “imagination” (imahenasyon). It is also about the image (imahe) that we want to portray as a nation (nasyon) of animators to the world. But Animahenasyon is more than just a showcase of what the Filipino animators can do. It is really a harvest (ani) of the Filipino talent and creativity. It is a celebration of the Philippine animation industry.

Past and Present The Spanish Video Game Interactive Exhibit at Instituto Cervantes de Manila from September 14 to 30, 2011 (Lecture: September 16, 2011)

Past and Present The Spanish Video Game
Instituto Cervantes de Manila
855 T.M. Kalaw St.
1000 Ermita
Manila, Filipinas

Interactive Exhibit
September 14 (Wednesday) - 30 (Friday), 2011

Lecture by Spanish Video Game Developers
September 16 (Friday), 2011
4:00 PM

Interested in videogames? Instituto Cervantes de Manila presents “Arsgames: Past and Present of the Videogame in Spanish,” an interactive exhibit that features audio-visual samples (and real Spanish videogames you can actually play!) from the beginning of the 80s to the present evolution in the last years. The exhibit will run from September 14 to 30 while two lectures by Spanish videogame developers Mar Canet and Flavio Escribano will take place on September 16, 4 pm, at Instituto Cervantes.

Recuerda!: Interested participants can play Spanish videogames at Instituto Cervantes’ Interactive Exhibit. ¿Te gusta el plan?

After the prolific Spanish production of video games in the 80's (considered as the Golden Age of the Spanish video game) came the technological crisis of the 90's which prompted the Spanish speaking countries not to produce video games until the year 2000. During these years, the U.S., Japan, Canada and United Kingdom took the helm as the main producers of video games world-wide. Therefore, today any reference to the language of the video games is under the influence of either the Anglo-Saxon or Japanese: be it in ethics, culture, history, literature and even in film. But at present, the cultural industry of the video game in Spain sees enriched with new contributions of Latin America. With this new push of the Spanish video game, the Hispanic countries go back to the first line of this powerful tool of communication, which is used by more than 500 million people in the West and drives big dividends.
